Position Qualification

Position Summary
The Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupational Health (EAOH) and the Water, Climate and Health (WCH) Program in the College of Public Health (COPH) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in environmental epidemiology, with an emphasis on climate-related disasters, community resilience, and population-level vulnerabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Kristina Kintziger and the interdisciplinary WCH team to (i) develop and implement innovative epidemiologic research and interventions to address public health challenges related to water, climate, and climate-related disasters, and (ii) contribute to the program’s broader mission of advancing science that improves population health and supports community resilience. The position offers opportunities for collaboration across departments and with community, governmental, and academic partners throughout the University of Nebraska system. Candidates with a strong interest in applied research and cross-sector partnerships are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Public Health Preparedness, or a closely related field (completed or expected before the start date)
  • Strong training in epidemiologic methods
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research and effective collaboration in team-based environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Supplemental Qualifications
  • Experience in community-engaged research or public health practice related to water, climate, or natural hazards
  • Familiarity with research focused on at-risk or disproportionately affected populations, or geographic and socioeconomic variation in health risks
  • Iterest in interdisciplinary collaboration to support evidence-based public health strategies and community resilience
